Pitching Nike with Space Vikings
Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at 8:44AM About a month or so ago we were invited to pitch for Nike's action sports division (nike6.0, NikeSB, and Nike Snowboarding) We went up against the venerable Wieden+Kennedy as well as 72 and Sunny, and Nemo. Good company for sure. We went crazy for this obviously. With an Olympic just do it spot and tons of digital engagement ideas, the stakes were big for sure. Action sports are leading youth culture right now and Nike is right to try and find a way to do it right. So they brought us in to challenge convention, and we certainly did that. The example you see here was the weirdest one of the five ideas we proposed, but we loved it and it went over well. Remember the crazy concept albums of the 70's? We wanted to modernize it and we called it Galactnarok. This thing was fantastic and transcendent of sports. Full of hidden gems, cool collaborations, and of course space viking judges. Well, sadly, the story ends with us not getting the business. But the work we pitched made us proud. So I wanted to share a little of it here.
